So,. we were on holidays a few weeks back (for a given value of 'holiday' , that is.  We were actually visiting the not-really-in-laws and having a not-really-Christmas.   But I digress...)  Anyway, Rich found this very cool silver pendant that's his Celtic Birth Animal and apparently means 'Stamina'.    I don't know if it means he's got it, or the ( Read more... )

Those are SUPER pretty. I was your local arts markets were near me . . . :(

I can relate to the hobby fanatic phase thing. I almost went through it with beading too, but I was broke and couldnt buy anything. I wanted to try and knit a wrist watch band, with beads on the edges. I still do. But I have to get past the broke thing first.

Thank you. I get a bit paranoid about making gifts sometimes. When I'm designing them and making them, I think they're fabulous. As soon as they're wrapped and ready to go to someone, they instantly become them most hideous, childish and provincial things in my mind. I think that's part of the reason why I give up whenever someone suggests I can make money out of my stuff. But who knows, I might set up a website and start flogging my jewelry to the world.

One of the cool things about beading and knitting and other such hobbies, is that you can plan and design them in your head until the point when you do have the time or funds to do it. When you get the chance to do that watch band, you're going to know exactly what threads, what colours, what stitch, what beads you want to use.

Dont be so hard on yourself. You did a great job!

And as long as I can find the beads, etc. that I can imagine, then you have a point.

hello! brita here! i found your blog on facebook :D
from a fellow beader (from way back, i started up beading again many years ago and have continued...) they're great!!!! you know your colours, pretty necklaces! and i know just what you mean about the gift thing, i have reworked presents 5 times over and not been satisfied, and meekly handed over a present only to have friends absolutely love it!!!!
i tried selling jewellery on ebay. a few items sold but most didn't and it was far too much hassle (weighing, postage etc) that i gave up that idea. all the boring stuff that isn't the actual jewellery making ends up taking up too much time.
good luck...
