Books plus other stuff

Since I read at lunch pretty much every day, I often are asked the same questions. One is "how long does it take you to finish a book" or "how fast do you read" or the like. I never know how to handle this because the time it takes depends on many factors such as the length of the book, the difficulty of the book, and how busy I am at work. For ( Read more... )

Bad at prioritization, but things that come to mind are (500) Days of Summer (movie) and Never Let Me Go (book). I'm sure there's others, but those come to mind first.

Do you have any favorites/recommendations?

I liked the ending of Brother of Sleep by Robert Schneider (the book). A multi-layered unhappy ending.

Maybe I should read this 1984 again since you think so highly of it. I mainly remember not liking it when I read it in high school, but I was far less a fan of dystopian future books.

Just finished my re-read of 1984 and I totally agree with your thoughts on the ending. Brutal!

Damn, I forgot about Never Let Me Go. It got me really emotional.... what a great book.

Have you've seen the Never Let Me Go movie? It has Keira Knightley, Andy Garfield, and Carey Mulligan as Ruth/Tommy/Kathy.
