While reading through the slideshow of statistics related to this article on 15 College Degrees That Are Going Extinct I had to stop and laugh and laugh and feel really happy that they chose John of fucking Gaunt to represent History as a subject.

It's okay, I'm pretty sure they don't understand the meaning of the term 'extinction', since a lot of the degrees they mention are going down in enrollment, but are still heavily enrolled (including history, as well as biology). I appreciate that fewer people are studying these things, and in the long-run they might die out if that trend continues, but there are a lot of steps in between.

On the other hand, home ec is obviously going to die, as a side-effect of girls getting to study real degrees at uni. And I say bon voyage.

Incidentally, have you ever seen the MST3k short about home ec in college? It's the best thing ever. It's a short explaining how girls can now go to college! To study home ec! To be better wives! (If you haven't see in it, youtube it!)
