I have stayed up far too late - and it was worth it! These are fantastic, love, and thank you so, so much. I love them both, and am happy to share :-)

This is wonderful: in the flush of that victory, she dared to hope that he'd forgiven her, after all

And this: this slip of a girl, in an ill-fitting uniform too broad in the shoulders and an uncommonly silly hat, looked every inch a King

Writing well is the best...um, yeah. Thank you ♥

That's lovely! So very Elizabeth, and so very Jack. And her hat is very silly!

These are fabulous, both of them! Made me happy :-) Also, I wanted to say, your new comm has actually made me excited about something PotC again, for the first time in, well, a very long time...

That's awesome--I'm so glad! I'm excited, too. And more excited about fandom than I've been in awhile.

I loved the politics in that scene, too! And Jack doing the last thing anyone expects. And the fact that he trusts her to get things done, even if he doesn't trust her personally. Maybe it's just because their goals happen to coincide, but there's still a lot going on there under the surface.

Thanks so much for commenting. It's definitely an interesting question as to how the others got their pieces of eight. Inheritance? Piracy of other pirates? A little pickpocketing? And does being a Pirate Lord give you extra status among pirates, or is it only something that matters when the Court is convened? Hmmm...
