Today in SORROW'S KNOT, I got my hero Otter to take temporary leave of her friend and head down the side of a mountain to The Next Place Where The Plot Needs Her To Be.  It's only a short scene -- maybe a thousand words -- but it's a lovely one:  effortless and delicate writing, a moment of decision which arises suddenly and believably from the ( Read more... )

I would like some of that "effortless and delicate", please. With a currant scone, to go.

Though I shouldn't complain. I am past the "what on earth comes next, gnaaarr, how will I ever make deadline, why did I ever become a writer" stage and well into the "how can I make the boring bits of this first draft better, I can't think of anything on such short notice, gnaaarr, why did I ever become a writer" stage, which is greatly preferable IMO.
