This one will have to be quick -- over at Paizo.com they've got copies of some fine old SF and fantasy available through their 'Planet Stories' line. I've already reviewed Who Fears The Devil? Now it's the turn of another Golden Age Weird Tales author, C. L. Moore.( Read more... )

I love Moore's Joiry and Northwest Smith stories! I've got collections of both in my personal library, along with a copy of The Best of C. L. Moore and Two Handed Engine The Selected Stories of Henry Kuttner and C.L.Moore, which also present other examples of Moore's work. It may be that these collections don't contain the story you cited: a gang of people who hunt and eat ghosts What is the title of it? If I don't know it, then I guess I'll have to get a copy of Black God's Kiss.

I have 'Two Handed Engine', but I lost 'Best of C.L. Moore' a long time ago. Both great books.

As for the Jirel story I mentioned, it should be 'Hellsgarde' if I remember right. And just so you know, Planet Stories has also published several Kuttner collections and novels, including The Dark Land and the comic ones of his drunken inventor.

I have read "Hellesgarde" -- just didn't remember it for that. I should track down The Dark Land. I've read a lot of his Hogben and Gallegher humorous work. :-)

Gallegher! That's who the one collection is of. He made the sarcastic robot, right?

And the Jirel stories the book has are as follows:

'Black God's Kiss'
'Black God's Shadow'
'Jirel Meets Magic'
'The Dark Land' (No relation to the Kuttner novel)
'Hellsgarde'
'Quest for the Starstone'

It really is a good book!
