easy to learn, hard to master

Oft said. Quite true. Case in point: It's been nineteen days since I've started and I've already picked up about four of the songs on my Winamp playlist. For some of them I didn't even need tabs. Maaaaan, fuck the F major chord. SO. HARD.

Bar chords hurt too, as you learn them. But apparently they enable you to switch around way faster. I wish I could play the guitar. Every time I try, I fail. ._.

Keep trying? I've noticed that, in direct opposition to common sense, guitar skills are quantized. You spend hours and hours and hours trying to play chords (or switch between them) and having them buzz every single time, fail fail fail fail fail, no progress or improvement whatsoever, and one day you give them another try and they just work. It's almost like you have to repeat the same repetitive task just enough to get your experience points high enough to proceed to the next level.

I tried to do a barre chord last week. It sounded so awful I went into a giggling fit.
