Doctor Who and Torchwood fans, I need your help :-)

As I'm neither a Doctor Who fan nor ever managed to get into Torchwood, I'd be very grateful if you guys could help me.

If you'd have to recommend one episode for each doctor (1 - 10), which one would it be?
If you'd have to recommend two episodes of Torchwood, which ones would you choose?

A short summary why you like that specific episode would be ( Read more... )

I only know the David Tennant!Doctor, but my favourite episode there (from the few I've so far caught, admittedly) would be "The Girl in the Fireplace". Because spaceship from the 25th century stalking a girl from pre-revolutionary France = GOLD.

That episode is definitely on my list of "episodes to find". I *think* I've seen the last two minutes of it on TV, and I wondered what had been going on there. :)

Torchwood...ooh, hard to say, but I think two of my favourites are Captain Jack Harkness and Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (yes, I like episodes with Jack kissing people *sheepish look*).

I can't speak for any Dr Who pre-Russell T., but if I had to pick from Nine and Ten, probably the Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways double episode, and for Ten...oooh...hard! The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords, maybe? But there are so many I loved!!! (I also really adore Blink and bought the T-shirt...)

And why I like them...

Captain Jack Harkness
Because it is beautiful and poignant, and has some lovely tender moments and a softer side of Jack.

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang
Because it gives us a bit more information about Jack's mysterious past, has some hot kissing and quirkiness...

Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways
This has Rose being magnificent, Captain Jack being cheeky, the Doctor being adorable and introduces Russell T.'s love for melodramatic series finales, which I share!

The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords
Because if I was a bad guy, I'd TOTALLY choose that as my World Domination theme tune as well! And because it has the Doctor being absolutely breathtaking but also compassionate. And is another good stonking dramatic series finale. Hurrah!

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was an immediate favourite with Miss C., so I'll try to find the other episodes you mentioned as well. It's like trying to find porcini mushrooms in the forrest! :-D

Miss C. was lost after five minutes of "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang", so this was a good pick! :-D (Couldn't find Captain Jack Harkness, I'm still looking). She's now making her way through all episodes with doctor no. 9. I have yet to find the recommended 10th doctor episodes, but I can see many Sunday Doctor in the future. ;) Thank you!

mmm very tricky.

for torchwood 'captian jack harkness' is a must. its expains are lot about jack and is very sad and beautiful.

another is 'small worlds', sad and at the same time a bit scary and disturbing.

doctor who, decisions decisions...

my favourite episode doesnt have a lot of the doctor (tennant) in it but its brilliantly writen and scary as hell 'blink' or rather dont blink, never blink.

the other would be the double ep (eccleston), 'empty child' and 'the doctor dances'. ww2, we meet jack and a lost creepy child.

these are only a few of my favourites but i hope it gives you some ideas.

*makes notes*

I've seen the "Blink" episode with those creepy angels, that's really a good one! Unfortunately, I've so-far only found it on youtube, but I won't give up. Empty Child and The Doctor Dances was fantastic, I loved that one. Excellent recommendations, thank you!
