Pesky obstacles like inspiration aside, I need a specific environment to write. Means: MY laptop. My 1950s doctor's desk with glass cabinet. My books close by. Music (or TV, it depends). Emma watching (if she's not chasing Charlie). And most of all: NO AUDIENCE. I absolutely hate it when people stand behind me, sit next to me or simply watch me

A new computer makes all the difference!

I prefer xp to vista and on this new one I cannot remove vista to put xp on as it wont let me - the makers seem to have locked it in somehow.

I guess you'd have to build the computer up from scratch to re-install XP. I'm beginning to get used to Vista, and some aspects are good, but overall, I think it's much ado about nothing. But the laptop is great, all in all - the keyboard sounds like the good old ones from ten years ago, you can hear me typing even in the kitchen! :)

Acer are fantastic. At work we have Dell, which weren't so stellar, and now switched to Toshiba. Our techies need lightweight laptops because they take them everywhere, but for me, I rather have something solid. ;)

The piano? That's a first, but it makes sense. I wonder if there are studies about the naming-habits of women... :D

Heh, I name my computer... and my car... and probably a lot of other things I don't realise ;)

And I don't like Macs either.. there are two of us!

Miss C.'s bike is called "Olga". :-D I wonder if this is a woman-thing or if men name their cars as well. I wish there were more guys on LJ, I'd love to make a poll.

Very happy with both laptop and printer. The latter works with WLAN, so Miss C. can send print jobs wireless. We're getting professional here!

My laptop's called Erwin. :P And my MP3 player Klaus. Not odd at all. Pretty thing, your new friend their. Just Vista... :( Mine is Vista as well and it's like... well... c'est pas terrible, in lack of any German/english expression my mind can come up with. :P

I know what you mean. Vista isn't hell on earth, but Microsoft should have held back until finished, working and all faults ironed out. Let's just say this is not passionate love, but working towards a peaceful coexistence...

Congrats on the new computer! Hmmm. I think most people I know name their computers, even if it is something utterly unoriginal like the "Black Box," my work machine!
