It seems they like to regularly beat their users on their head. Must be a habit they got from old KGB...
Can only say word to what Alex said about having a backup Wordpress account. If one, I'm happy I did not renew my LJ paid account when it expired.

LJ has dumped a lot of crap lately, but I think this is by far the smelliest pile of dung. Seriously, what are they thinking??? Why would someone looking for a good blogging experience sign up now? Way to shoot yourself in the foot, LJ.

I found a way around the advertising. They give a list of types of advertising and if you do not select any you do not get any adverts on the page.

This lot are incredibly greedy and I cannot see it working out for them.

I have a plus account, not this one I am using but another one, and never get adverts because I did that. I still have the little advertisement link though at the top of the page but underneath is blank.
