When precisely did I sell my soul to the devil?

I guess I shouldn't rant here, because with exception of some anonymous annoyingmice, the people posting to my LJ are a friendly lot who I know for a long time. But hell, I have to rant, or I start throwing furniture around.

There are some truly moronic individuals lurking out there. The email fairy brought me the following this morning:

I HAVE NO WORDS... )

morons, idiots, imbeciles, oh my

This is not just bad taste, this is idiocy.
You know you can track the email origin via IP, don't you?

Yes, I know, and once again, this was a little present from Germany. Unfortunately, you can't report people for being idiots. What's WRONG with those people?!? It looks like a real headstone to me - have they no respect? >:-( That infuriates me most than anything else. Using somebody's headstone for such bollocks.

WTF? If everyone stayed in one fandom their entire life, my friends list would be boring! (Not that I friend people because we're in the same fandom so much as because I stumbled upon their journal and ended up liking it and the journal's owner, but still...) Oy, entitlement whores... so much fun. :P

I'll sit here on my hands before I launch into a full-blown "I hate fans of bands who say the band 'sold out' just because their latest album/image is so different from their most famous album/image and how they're going to download their latest album without paying in protest because RAWR they don't like this one thing they did!" rant I tend to do when I hear about entitlement whiners. ^_^;

I wonder what sort of sad life it is if all has to revolve around "fandom". Should I ever come to that point, I hope somebody will be generous and provide a piece of rope for me. >:(

That example with the bands is EXACTLY the same things. They think they are fans and can now command the artists around. Huh? WTF?

I've found that avoiding the people who can't seem to live or think outside their favorite fandom saves me a surprising lot of boredom and/or stress. (Though I'm lucky in the fact that I'm just a lurker and not a fanfic writer who can't choose her readers...) They're like... robots. It's scary... "Must answer all questions with something relating to fandom! Must eat 60,000 words of fanfiction by tomorrow! Have not had sufficient fanfiction from X author, unacceptable! Attack! Attack!"

The band thing makes me wonder WTF those fans' definitions of "selling out" is. Did that band sign a contract to those fans saying they had to stay stuck in the 80's forever or something? They fail to realize they probably never would have gotten that favorite album of theirs to begin with if their beloved band hadn't had the freedom to experiment to make it in the first place! (Don't even get me started on the absolute stupidity of protesting by just stealing something you wanted anyway--yeah, what a sacrifice for you if you get it for free! Your ( ... )

That is sick, that is tasteless, and... absolutely beneath notice. Where do some people get off?

I love your POTC fics hon. They're well written, fun, sad, and lovely. Keep it up.

Absolutely tasteless. And infuriating. The only way to punish these people is writing lots of graphic smut involving red-haired lieutenants. Ha.
