When precisely did I sell my soul to the devil?

I guess I shouldn't rant here, because with exception of some anonymous annoyingmice, the people posting to my LJ are a friendly lot who I know for a long time. But hell, I have to rant, or I start throwing furniture around.

There are some truly moronic individuals lurking out there. The email fairy brought me the following this morning:

I HAVE NO WORDS... )

morons, idiots, imbeciles, oh my

Uhh. Maybe I'm the one who is dense, but I have no clue what a tombstone with Will Turner's name on it has to do with your slash stories. Is he/she insinuating that your slash stories are actually real person slash?

sorry...it's early...no coffee yet...

It's a headstone for a certain Fred WILL TURNER. But I'll sum the messages I recently received up:

"We don't want you to write POTC stories. You have to write LOTR, because that's what you've always done, and if you don't do what we want, we'll send you idiotic emails, because we're morons."

The world is FULL of stupid people!
And I find it totally ridicolous that some morons out there feel entitled to tell you what to write... Priceless.

I for one are forever grateful to be able to read whatever you choose to write - in your own free time, for the enjoyement of countless readers - and wouldn't dream of complaining.

STUPID people.

I suppose they think it's funny, but it really isn't. This is taking crazy to a new level. I never got stuff like that, not in all the years I've been in the LOTR fandom. Maybe because I did what I was expected to do? This creeps me out.

Why does this creep me out so much? I'm sorry you got this in your inbox. Me, I just get ads for V1:AGrA and invitations to view "Amy"--19/f/shy--on her dorm room web cam.

Sends white malteasers, Blue Sapphire and smooches from little Molly the Pirate (aka: "Who You Callin' A Ho?!")

Because it is creepy. I'd prefer the Viagra ads, actually. WTF, this is only fanfiction, what is their problem? Say hello to Miss Molly, and thanks for the booze and the food. I need it.

Uhm, I have to join Jaiden here in seeing a picture of a headstone, but not really understanding the fundamental connection it has to your POTC slash. (Or the PS about Norrington with two r's.) Has there been a letter attached to this picture, which has later been removed from your LJ post?

Or maybe I'm just a bit daft today. Anyway, I love POTC slash!

Norrington was written with one r all through one of the emails. Hence the PS. Which is one of a couple of emails I got, starting with the very first chapter of "Without Fail" that I posted. Alternating with "when do you finally post the last chapters of Finding Námo" (see some recent comments in this LJ).

From one annoying fan-girl... pirateandrum September 19 2006, 19:48:41 UTC
Hey, I'm sorry if you have taken my previous comment as a bothering of your own life. I was just wondering if you are really planning to finish LOTR fic. And if you are, I'm ok with it and happy. I'll wait for it. And btw if you were not, what should I do to you? Let me think...nothing. Nothing at all. So don't be so mad about it, I didn't want to anger you. Just wanted to be sure. It's just this: you've got fans. You're popular. Deal with it.

I've managed to have a lot of fun in this fandom for three years, there were hardly any problems, and why now all of a sudden some people I've never heard of feel they have to mailbomb me simply because I'm not doing what they wan't me to do is something I can't understand, and no, I don't have to deal with it. I can be mad as hell if I want to.

It's great people like my stories, I really appreciate it. But I can only repeat what I've said twenty times before: the fics ARE finished. They have to be beta-read. Beta readers have lives as well. And real life is more important than some ruddy story. And that's something those "fans" will have to deal with.

Btw. "I know I'm annoying but I love it" is a bad icebreaker.
