July was a crazy month, if my comparative lack of postage (when I don't really post all that often to begin with) was any indicator. I'm staring at my blank calendar for August in disbelief; every time someone contacts me to make plans for an upcoming day or weekend I have a mini panic attack because I still feel like my schedule is bursting at the seams, when really, it's not. It's been strangely quiet all week and I'm kind of not trusting that fact.
Ha, I feel the same way! July was so busy that I want August to be less busy, and I'm trying to say Yes to fewer invitations.

By the way, I just wanted to throw this out there because I had the idle thought the other day: will you be home for Christmas/New Year's? Because I still think it would be fun to come down there and spend a week playing video games. My neighbor just got an Xbox and Bioshock, so maaaaybe I can finally play that thing. In my, uh, free time.

We must talk after you read Shadowland #2. I'm not sure I like what's going on, and I hope there's a good explanation for ( ... )

Unfortunately, this is our Oklahoma year for Christmas! (We switch off annually, having it here and then there - it's where Luke's mom and dad live.) So we'll be gone all through Christmas and New Year's. :[ Sorry! PLAY BIOSHOCK, OMG. Hijack your neighbor's console in my absence! Will you ever buy one for yourself? Ha.

As for Shadowland: crap, really? I was gonna hold off on picking up my subs till the 11th when #509 comes out... but now I don't know if I'll last. :/ Oh, Matt.

Ah, yes! Instant Netflix is my best friend. I just noticed the other day that both seasons of TSCC had popped up on there, and it made me very happy. Of course, we already have both of them in Blu-ray, but now I can REALLY bug people to watch it. ;]

"Satellite viewing" - that's perfect! Ha. Yeah, I do the same thing to Luke sometimes when he's playing games I don't really care for: Gears of War, Killzone, etc. They're definitely always good for a laugh at the very least, and like you said, it's fun to see what he finds interesting.

Ohh, Daredevil's gotten pretty epic of late. What was the last trade you read? I used to consume my DD that way too, until I found a comic store right next to my office tower, which makes monthly subs a cinch. The big Shadowland event going on right now is bleeding over into tons of one-shots with the street-level heroes... it's cool to see DD having an impact on the wider world of Marvel, since he's usually so confined to his little corner.

Oh, I TOTALLY know that feeling you get when you're so used to being busy that it's hard to believe when your schedule actually opens up a bit ( ... )

Ah yes, Best Qualified is Federal lingo - Luke works for TSA, and basically, if you want a promotion in a government agency, you can't just get it from a pat on the back by your boss. You have to apply for the next level up, which requires writing thousands of words of essays to prove your experience, which are reviewed by a third party halfway across the country. :/ It's a really ridiculous system ( ... )

Ridiculous system or not, good for you guys. I hope it pans out well for you.

Denver! One of three places I currently consider to be a strong candidate if I decide to move wo another state. A friend I grew up with here in southwest MI moved out to California (Alameda to be precise) after graduating from college and stayed there a few years or so before moving to Denver. Also, one of my best friends has family there and they all love it. I've never visited, but it looks absolutely beautiful and I, too, like having seasons. Anyway, best of luck with that and keep us posted.

Ah, I plan on watching Fringe eventually as well.

Interesting. I really like the film adaptation of Daredevil, but never knew anything about the comic otherwise. I went to the Wikipedia page to see if there's any hope for a sequel or anything, and indeed it looks like there is. Only bummer is Marvel wants the rights back in order to make a sequel, which I support, since they've been making good films in my opinion and Stan Lee DID create the character in the first ( ... )

I just finished it! The Long Halloween! And I LOVE it! I can't believe how fast it goes -- sure, I had it for about a month, but I read the whole thing in just a couple sittings, which is unheard of for me. I could see where Dark Knight took from it with the whole "I believe in Harvey Dent" thing and the team of Batman, Dent and Gordon. I was honestly guessing who Holday was until the very end and I never quite had it figured out. I want more!

Thank you again for the recommendation... got any others? :D
