I finally got the chance to sit down and finish BioShock 2 today. I feel oddly bereft. Eleanor and Delta's relationship was compelling stuff; any misgivings I had about other aspects of the game ended up heavily outweighed by that absolutely beautiful ending. Guys, uh, I almost cried. I was tearing up. Yes, at a videogame. But! It's a story about a ( Read more... )

Congrats on finishing the game and doing it the way YOU wanted to!

Your thoughts on the upcoming Prince of Persia game made me think of my thoughts regarding The Matrix series when I heard there was going to be a second and third film. At first I was like "ugh, I don't like the idea, but I'll see them anyway"...but then I learned that it was planned to be a trilogy all along and started getting my hops up. That was a bad thing because the Reloaded was a load (pun intended) of crap from what I remember (I let myself fall asleep with no remorse after the scene where Neo throws one of the Mr. Smiths into a group of Mr. Smith clones and it made a bowling pins sound effect -- BOWLING PINS! -- completely destroying the atmosphere I loved the first film for). But, anyway, here's hoping this is not the case with the upcoming game.

Ooh how was Alice??? o.O

Oh man yes, the Matrix sequels did quite a bit of damage! I still like them for the ideas and concepts they presented, which are complex and fascinating (and which I spent a LOT of online time discussing back in the day) - but the execution of the films definitely makes them a lot more difficult to enjoy. The ideas just didn't marry the filmmaking in the same perfect way as the first, which is still one of the few perfect sci-fi movies in existence IMHO.

Haha, you make me want to watch it again!

Alice was a lot of fun; they had a great excuse for it being so (relatively) dark, by making it a sequel to the traditional story with Wonderland gone to hell in a handbasket. And the art direction is just insane. The girl they got to play Alice was probably my favorite part about it, though - and the March Hare, who was just hilarious.

Ugh, I reread what I wrote in that comment up there and cringed at all the typos. Anyway, I want to see Reloaded and Revolutions again now, too, and give them both a fair shot. And I had no idea that Alice is actually a sequel of sorts. Looking forward to seeing it, but Wolfman comes first (hopefully).
