I lost my filly last month to heart failure. The short version is we think she had a virus some months past that got into her heart and damaged it. There was too much damage for it to have occurred during the two weeks she was obviously unwell

I bought a keepsake necklace off Etsy. It's a locket made of clear glass, and you put a few strands of hair, a couple of charms, tiny keepsakes, etc, in it. There are a lot to choose from, some with pre-chosen charms, others where you pick each thing yourself. I find it comforting.

Just search 'memory charm locket' and you'll get a bunch of results.

I've seen those. I like the idea of a necklace as I am more likely to wear one over a bracelet. You can always tuck a necklace in your shirt, but a bracelet can get hung up on things. I'll check it out, thanks.

I don't know if it is Raku as she doesn't say it specifically, but I am having a ceramic pendant made that uses her hair.

I dis go through and gather up my photos and videos of her. I initially thought I didn't have a video of me riding her, but found one, which made me happy. I will probably sit down and put together a DVD of everything and maybe a photo album, but I don't think I'm quite ready to do that just yet.

I don't have any advice on the memorial- I have a lock of hair from all my previous horses in a decretive box- but I wanted to comment and say that I'm sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful girl.
