Most retirement places don't allow riding, to keep their insurance (and board) costs down. BUT -- there are private owners who sometimes will welcome a horse as a companion for theirs. I'd say ask around, post flyers at tack shops, etc. I'm sure you'll find something!

I'll keep my eye out for some private owners - I'm sure there are people who would like trail companions!

word of mouth! I think what you are looking for is a trail barn.

If that doesn't work, perhaps you can do a half-lease situation with somebody that wants to ride during the week?

I'll definitely look out for a trail barn. Thanks!

oh, PS, even the most dedicated and vigilant of riders don't make it out to the barn this time of year.

Thank you, I'm having major guilt issues! She doesn't care, but I do :)

I have seen a couple of recent postings on craigslist (the farm/garden "services" and "for sale" sections) for a private barn in the Lakewood area looking for another horse to keep her's company. I believe it said she had access to Bear Creek, but don't quote me on that one. Occasionally people post an ad asking if anyone knows of a place to board that has XYZ, couldn't hurt to try! You could also try investigating at the Colorado Horse Forum.

I second Craigslist, I found my amazing barn there and they don't advertise elsewhere.

Yeah, Craigslist seems to be the sole place to advertise for a lot of things - that's where I found my job! Thanks!
