Halter Hunt

Dec 13, 2010 11:05

Various voltuneers and instructors at the therapy barn I volunteer at have 'adopted' the horses and are buying them new halters.  Though some begging and wrangling I have scored that right for my favorite mare!  Win!  Here is the girl in question:

But you'd never lose them in the field.

I would HOPE that my eyes would never be lost in a field, bleeding or not!

Actually thanks to harnessphoto's really awful suggestion I found this one: http://www.raraequus.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=23570&idcategory=27

I'm highly amused but not sure how appropriate it is for a 25 year old mare. The fiesty Morab, yes, her? Not so much. XD

We actually make halters like those (buy regular halters and then literally gorilla glue the sequins on). They are classy and glamorous. We especially like to do it for the geldings.

I would think she would look pretty in something red, but that's just my personal opinion. http://www.doversaddlery.com/product.asp?pn=X1-0505&ids=842585582 or these: http://www.redhautehorse.com/ (very cute).

ETA: it just dawned on me, this is a therapy barn. I volunteer with therapeutic riding and hippotherapy and it's fun for the kids to pick out some of the tack (or at least be involved as best as they can). Why not choose between a few of your favorite halters and then let the riders vote? That's what we do and it's a great way to let the kiddos interact and be involved.

I'm only there one day a week, so I don't get to see many of the kids Shiloh rides. I can try, though!

I was just about to suggest your first suggestion too - I'm planning on getting the purple for my favorite schoolie at my lesson barn :) Too cute!

my dark bay has that halter in purple and she looks so good in it. when it's not covered in mud you can even tell what colour it is!

The celery one is part of the Perri's halters I keep staring at. Hmm...

I'm so disappointed - 45 comments in a post on halters but nothing about dog horse agility!

OP, I approve of the navy with dots. It reminds me of some kind of mysterious barn candy. :)

ETA: Apparently dogs =/= dots. Argh, spelling.

Well I could talk about horse agility if you want. I'm sure I could tie it in to Pepper's decision that mud puddles really need jumping. For a 23 year old pony he sure is spry!
