He did clinics at my college a few times, and I'm really not into NH, but some of the stuff about riding that he talks about I have used and like alot. I just love listening to him talk though, he's so awesome and such a nice guy!
Plus I got to ride for him once, and he told my coach that I was a really good rider :D!!!! (The coach was a C*nt and got all snitty about it, but still how awesome!).
Yeah, he was pretty funny, and I really liked how he was genuinely interested in each horse, and I loved the way he spoke to them.
That's awesome that he said that! And after watching him tear apart the rider at the clinic I have to say that's some kinda compliment! Awesome that your coach would be offended by that. *eyeroll* You'd think she would have taken it as a compliment and a reflection of her ability if nothing else, LOL.
Thanks for sharing that. The label seems to send people into a spin, but there are great horsemen out there who just speak the language very well. The guy in the recent brumbies post trained my horse (and me) and is similar. You might want to check the link though. Try this: http://www.chrisirwin.com/site/index.php
You should have seen the article that was about him in the city newspaper, he even pulled it out and had a good laugh about how schmoopy it sounded. He said that in every city, the media tends to latch on their favourite aspect of his training - some go for the wild and crazy horses turned to lambs, others like the "deep" connection, and still others go for his projects using equine-assisted therapy - horses to help people psychologically or physically. And I have to say, that article did him no justice at all.
There's a list on the website of where he's travelling this year. He's well worth checking out! I'm very interested in doing a full-day or multi-day clinic with him if and when the opportunity presents itself!
