"half the foot was torn off"

Yeah... lets breed the hell out of that horse!

And I HAAAAATE that it's now "The Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands" I don't know why, but it really pisses me off.

I just hate when companies rename classic things, like the Skydome Rogers Centre.

"Now he can go on and breed more unsound horses."

Honestly...I mean, they only need to stay sound for three or four years, then they can just dump them!

(And as a disclaimer: I really do enjoy the sport, I just feel like some of the practices which are becoming more and more common have hurt it.)

ya know, honestly, i don't know why they haven't bred in HYPP so they can muscle up when they aren't training on the track. cuz i mean, then you could get double the training time-in AND out of the stall!

(and my disclaimer: i think there are some great people who genuinely love horses and the sport out there-who are smart about the animals and will do the right thing, but sometimes I wonder where the line is for the badies of the sport.)

Not at all surprised but not happy at all that he's going to Three Chimneys

I lost a lot of respect for Three Chimneys when they bought Big Brown's breeding rights. Absolutely disgusting. :(

what's hard is that in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness, Big Brown looked phenomenal.

Hard to say what happened after that. Unsound issues, drug issues.

Why can't a horse look that capable, phenomenal, special AND have four working legs? (Eight Belles, anyone?)

...Curlin, imo.

<3 Curlin.

And remember Silver Charm? He was still running, and winning, at 5 when so many other "super stars" are hobbling around.

...they're around.

English Channel. Better Talk Now. The Tin Man. Frost Giant. Commentator. Lawyer Ron, for all that he ran until 4. Red Rocks. Big Booster. Fabulous Strike (even though he's a tad shaky). Cardmania, way back in the day. EVENING ATTIRE, for christ's sake.

Edit:
Shakis, Ginger Punch, Hystericalady, Intangaroo (she's three, but she's SOUND!), Azeri, Tiznow, Pleasant Tap....
