Five things for today

We're snowed in.  And by 'we', I mean the village.  The only people who can travel any distance on the roads are a) in tractors, b) in proper 4x4s, or c) eejits.  It's very pretty.  The Husband took some yummy pictures, so there'll probably be picspam tomorrow.

I have a stinking cold.  Pounding sinuses and streaming nose, running eyes and generally ( Read more... )

I'm so sorry you're all drippy and poorly, I hope you feel better soon

Yep, the snow here has been awful, but I managed to get in on the one and only Ripon-Harrogate bus this morning and then had to walk in to work, only to listen to a colleague whinge all day that she wanted to build snowmen and play out in it!

Hope you're well enough to get everything you need to get done, done, but if not, I wish you all the best daytime rubbish on telly!

Feeling better all the time, thank you *g*. Sinuses are evil things. I'm sure they do something vital, but sinusitis is totally miserable.

We had another few inches of snow last night, and I've never known the village so quiet. It's quite beautiful, and I'm very glad I don't have to try to brave the hills in the car.

I'm so sorry to hear about your terrible cold (both personally and weather-wise). The weather here sucks. This morning's paper lists the low tonight as "18" degrees F. I'M IN FLORIDA!

I can't tell you how unprepared for this kind of cold we are. (sigh)

Even more so than we are, I imagine! We can deal with cold; it's the snow. The whole country grinds to a halt and it's top billing on the news. I had three phone calls last night just to ask what our weather was like!

Snowed in, whoa. It's not as bad here, but we've a lot more snow this year than in the last ones.

*hugs* Hope the cold goes away soon :)

I was thinking about you - I remember you saying that you put snow tyres on the car for the winter, and they would be very handy just at the moment!

He, see my latest posting - we've got more snow here and reduced snow clearing services, so we'll see how the weekend develops (though getting snowed in in a city should still leave us able to shop for food).

I've just seen that! Our council has stopped gritting the roads, becuase it doesn't work at low temperatures anyway. The nearest town had temperatures of -18C last night! Hopefully we have enough food to get us through until the thaw.

It's ridiculous, isn't it? I keep saying to myself, "It's just a cold, for heaven's sake!", and then my sinuses kick off again, or I have a sneezing fit, or my left eye starts watering incessantly, and I find myself making little whining noises and snuggling up under a fleecy blankey on the sofa. Luckily The Husband is extremely tolerant. Otherwise he'd probably have chucked me out into the snow by now *g*.
