God help me I've signed up for Cliche Bingo. I BLAME XPARROT. Also you all have to help me when I realize Dear God I Have To Write Fic?! I fail at writing fic. I never finish anything. I WILL NEED MOUNTAINS OF MORAL SUPPORT Y'ALL.

I'm super-glad ezazahaz is in MFU now, because I'm pretty sure that's all I'm capable of writing at the moment. If I'm ( Read more... )

I too am signed up for cliche bingo. We need to motivate each other! I actually already have an idea in mind, that I may use as the wild card if I don't get that particular cliche. (Yes, it's MFU.)

That really really sucks about your laptop. Do you have any sort of theft insurance? I guess at work as opposed to at home might make it tricky... And yeah, that's amazingly lucky you backed up recently. (I really need to do the same.) Hooray, not losing data/writing/photos!

Why am I not in bed yet? I got three hours of sleep last night, then a fitfully interrupted two-hour nap. Good times. But I'm going to a pride parade tomorrow! Yay!

Yay cliche bingo! (Yay MFU)

I'm covered by my parents' insurance, but it's a $6k deductible...so no. But I was planning to buy a new one anyway, so I was already planning to spend the money. BACK UP UR STUFF IT IS SRS BIZNESS

I'm not in bed either! Because I stayed up writing fic and then got hungry. It's not even cliche fic, it's fic I was working on earlier but then wandered away from. Productive!

Pride Parade FTW!

If the lab was locked overnight, doesn't that narrow down who could have stolen it? Or was the lock broken?

Well, Postdoc thinks someone jimmied the lock with a flexible plastic strip that could bend around corners to slip between the door and the jamb...which I find unlikely.

I initially thought the door had been left open, so hopefully the "locked" aspect might help catch the guy.

Go looking at the local pawn shops. Two people here got their laptops stolen, and they found them both at pawn shops. Just go (probably with someone) ask about small laptops (as if you're buying), ask to see them boot, and if you find yours, just go outside and call the cops (the real cops) to report that you've found stolen property (mention it's over $2k, even if it isn't, because IIRC that makes it a felony). Since you found it yourself, the cops have to do next to no work for an open-and-shut case.

Er, don't think I have the courage to do that...They did say the pawnshops were the best bet for getting it back though.

Do you have a friend who will go with you, or on your behalf?
