God help me I've signed up for Cliche Bingo. I BLAME XPARROT. Also you all have to help me when I realize Dear God I Have To Write Fic?! I fail at writing fic. I never finish anything. I WILL NEED MOUNTAINS OF MORAL SUPPORT Y'ALL.
I'm super-glad ezazahaz is in MFU now, because I'm pretty sure that's all I'm capable of writing at the moment. If I'm capable of writing at all. Blaargh...
In other news, my laptop has been Pilfered. Abducted, Made Off With, Nicked, FUCKING STOLEN. Flames, on the side of my face, heaving breaths... Anyway. I left it in a locked lab overnight. Morning = not there.
I'm not having a mental breakdown for one important reason: Mozy! I backed up all my shit. This is the weird thing: my laptop keeps threatening to die. It broke badly about a month ago. I got it fixed, but the ensuing OMG NO BACKUPS freakout induced me to get Mozy's online backup service. Less than a month later (barely two weeks after my first backup was complete) Poof! Laptop gone. So now I'm grateful for the earlier crash because otherwise I would have lost four years worth of writing, work (ALL MY DATA), and photographs (all my pics from Antarctica, Italy, Quebec, England...).
While I put my backups on my desktop for the moment, I'm now shopping for a new computer! I was previously all a-ga-ga over Macs, but now I'm sincerely tempted by this little beauty -- 3 lbs, $400, and still better than my old one in terms of hardware. So teeny! Plus 9 HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE HOLY CRAP. My labmate has one and swears by it. Anybody else have any recommendations?
