I would vote for you if you ran in an election :D

Rallies are fun for entertainment and joining in the cheers when we feel like it. But we also go in the genuine hope that both sides will share what they plan to DO. I've been trolling rallies for both the PAP and opposition for my GRC and beyond; even I wouldn't say I've decided who to vote for yet. Everyone's been less than impressive, really. My rally kakis who go with me say that in US elections real policies get discussed, unlike here. We have a long, long way to go!

LMFAO ZEE! you really shouldn't. i would be a terrible politician. (except maybe in taiwan. i could punch people in taiwan!)

i'm just really really glad that some people are getting actively involved and thinking things out and weighing their decisions instead of just jumping on either party's boat! IT IS V. COMFORTING.

also: in US elections real policies get discussed, unlike here

THIS TO ME IS THE NUMBER ONE THING THAT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. my rule of thumb is: if i can understand what's going on at a rally, SOMETHING AIN'T RIGHT. hahaha.

i definitely 100% do not dispute anything you've said about pap and how things are going downhill, especially about the withholding of funding from opposition grcs. i don't think that's right either, but what i meant was that EVERYONE KNOWS THEY'RE DOING IT, just like everyone knows their go-to strategy is name-calling, and no one is happy about it because it's underhand and fucking ridiculous, so WHY IS THE OPPOSITION NOT STEPPING UP AND DOING SOMETHING BETTER? that was basically what i was trying to say ( ... )

lol, i so knew you were gonna post about this eventually. it's good that you've made up your mind and that you're responsible in that you want to make only an informed vote ( ... )

in the mean time, the (few) opposition members who get voted in this time around will fight for their parties' aims, or at least have a higher chance of being heard, if their suggestions are reasonable. isn't that reason enough to vote for them?i'm sorry, but no. for me, this is never reason enough. the most crucial thing for me here is that i still haven't found out if i WANT them to be the voices representing me. i think that's essentially what i'm missing. it's not even about a full, actionable economic plan, you know? i don't need an opposition who's going to tell me that they're going to revolutionize the way things are run. but what i DO need are people who can prove that they can back their shit up. to me the least convincing arguments are people who don't have ALL THEIR BASES COVERED (ie. a better or at least workable alternative solution) and so far i haven't heard that at all. it's all just been promises to have the people be heard, but anyone can stand up in a room and say, HEY LOOK THIS IS WHAT'S WRONG HERE ( ... )

for starters, they could come with SOME kind of solution to the problems they're going to raise. it doesn't have to be revolutionary, but it does have to have SOME kind of potential! it has to make sense when i hear it. it has to make me go okay, s/he's CLEARLY thought about this and s/he's ready to fight for it and s/he's READY to deliver WHAT S/HE PROMISED, because S/HE HAS A PLAN ON HOW TO GET THERE. that's all. it doesn't have to be a big solution, or even a big problem. all i need is a start. and i hear more mudslinging than i do that ( ... )

yeah i get what you mean... i guess we all need to be pushed into reading the information. lucky for us, there are those who care about it enough that they post summaries? for example: http://yawningbread.wordpress.com/2011/04/11/solid-but-with-holes-the-workers-party-manifesto/... )

All i do is read about this kinda thing (i read so many emails, tweets, facebook notes, what have you, articles in the straits times!), and my own grc is being contested... But i can't vote. In a way i enjoy that it's making people interested and more involved, but I agree with you that people should just make an informed decision and not hate on PAP simply because they've been in power for so long and "i'm sick of this same old shit for the past xxxx years, I WANT SOMETHING NEW. I R BORED."

Let's hope people vote wisely. :)
