I am blushing -- thank you so much! I loved Josh/Matt and was sorry fandom remained mostly fixated on Josh/Sam (which was fun while it lasted but felt over to me from the moment Josh got on that plane to Texas). Very glad you enjoyed the ficlet!

Yes, I, too, was disappointed that fandom split into Josh/Sam and Josh/Donna without ever seeing the incredible potential in the Josh/Matt relationship; you and I are voices crying in the wilderness, I'm afraid.

My objections to Josh/Donna had nothing to do with wanting Josh with someone else and everything to do with the way Donna was written by the time the writers finally decided to go that route, after years of saying they wouldn't -- at that point it seemed like if Josh had ever been interested he'd have treated her more like an equal and a close friend, so I felt like I was watching her compromise herself and throw herself at him in ways I really didn't like. I was fine with Josh/Sam fading away.

Yes, you're right there - Donna's character really suffered as time went on, and her joining the Russell campaign should have put her completely out of the question for Josh even if he was straight. Or wanted to be. Sigh.
