I actually liked Nevermore, and am struggling through Witch's Canyon. It's good, but a little wordy, and definitely not enough Sam and Dean, nor is the banter quite what I wished for. I am hoping to be able to get through the whole thing in the near future, though. Thanks for sharing your review...
It's not like I disliked Nevermore. It was much superior for the Sam/Dean interaction and banter. Although I had major issues with the John signing Sam's school papers. Sam was 19 when he went to Stanford, he so didn't need John's permission for anything. (Oh, and the getting the eye color wrong). I also felt the MOTW was a bit weak.
Witch's Canyon is a better constructed novel, however, it's very weak in the Sam/Dean interaction or character development. Nevermore at least attempted to address the issue of John's passing earlier in the season.
I think they need to get a good gen fanfic writer and give them a writing contract. These professional tie-in authors don't necessarily have the same attachment to the shows that fans do and we're ultimately disappointed in their work.
