I can understand why Facebook supplanted LiveJournal; you can do more things on Facebook.  What I can't understand is why people went from Facebook to Twitter.  Why didn't they go back to LiveJournal if they found Facebook too intrusive?  What advantages does Twitter have over LiveJournal?

I've realised that I've spent the entire evening thinking about how cold it is and getting warm.  All I've done in bed is read the newspaper and listen to music.  I can't bring myself to do anything outside the blankets.

Just imagine the days before central heating.  They must've never thought about anything besides staying warm.

There's an album called White Crosses by a band "Against Me!" which is extremely good.  Listen online somehow!

Spotify is good.  You can send songs to people like a message.  It's easier to use than iTunes.  I thought it would just be the latest in the line of Facebook, Twitter, etc. but it's actually worth being on.

Whilst walking down Broad Lane in Sheffield today, I saw a middle-aged man collapsed and curled up by the side of a university building.  I paused for a minute and wondered if he needed medical assistance: he was so still that I thought he might be dead or on his way there.  Luckily, there was an NHS centre just around the corner.  I thought that ( Read more... )
