Yeah... and it really creates this awkward power imbalance which is compounded by the fact that she's 'the girl'.

Yeah. The gender dynamics in the show are a bit... troublesome. The female leader who needs the male navy officer to fix things for her. The rookie who needs guidance and who spends half her time in revealling clothing. The evil ex wife. The child. Not that the male characters have much variety really but they at least get to do things.

Eureka's fun you just have to ignore the implausible crackiness. :D
