What was he doing.

Really, he only meant to be out there for an hour. Just one. One turned into two. Two turned into five. Now it was dark and chilly and he should've brought a jacket. Just his luck.

He was hoping he'd see one. Just one whale. Anything to make the ocean less unforgiving. America wasn't as close to nature as he used to be, when he was a colony, even before then with the Indians, when all they did was live off the land. He had been losing that the more his people became industrialized, but he was still closer to animals than most of the other nations.

And animals were real. Unlike fairies and unicorns, of course.

So there he was, sitting on the dock, with his shoes off, dangling his legs off the side. His eyes are focused downward though he's leaning back a bit, arms crossed. He was cold, chilly, he really should've brought a jacket ( ... )

Germany's run slowed down to a jog and then to a walk, really, as it became clearer who was sitting on the dock. He had an almost immediate recognition of America's lack of a jacket - probably because of the time he'd spent really looking after Italy. He had a tenancy to worry a lot a little about the people he cared about - like Italy, or walking all over Vienna with Austria who would get lost in his own capital otherwise.

...Not that Germany cared for America that way, of course not. Meriken and her idiotic poll had nothing to do with anything, and those kisses they shared were entirely based on mansion events. Yup.

As we know, denial isn't just a River in Egypt.

He was hesitant, nevertheless, to actually approach America, but he found himself stopping before the dock, and just kind of...waiting. Awkwardly.

Finally, "...America?"

The voice startled him more than it should have. Then again, listening to crashing waves all day could lull anyone into a stupor. He tensed, turned and looked and... quickly looked away, toward the ocean. Right. He knew the voice, why did he even turn around. His bruises were gone but he was still annoyed, but not upset or betrayed because heroes didn't-

"Hey, Germany." Focus on willing the cold away.

Right. Remembering why he called to America, or what he was going to say, or how to say it, or some kind of coherent speaking pattern that vaguely resembled English, and was more than thought process.

Even if America was giving him a cold shoulder (no pun intended). He certainly hadn't acted any better yesterday, had he?

"I...I'm sorry for my actions, the other day."
