Haruhi had noticed him many times during her self given employ. The mornings when she would come in to notice his tail poking out from behind a shelf, wondering he he had even left the night before.

Finally, she decided to speak up. She crossed the large room and poked her head around the shelf where she had noticed his tail this time. Watching for a few moments as he poked through a book before clearing her throat quietly.

His head came up sharply from where it had previously been nose-to-paper buried in yet another text, frilled ears standing out like a startled cat's. For a moment he looked bewildered, perhaps amusingly so given his size, until he thought to look down and then the look was ever so slightly sheepish. "Ah! Good day, or at least I assume it's still daytime out. I'm not in your way, am I?"

She shook her head, smiling a little. He reminded her of Cloverfield, the giant creature that had been in the mansion for only a small time. "No, I was wondering if you've been sleeping."

The answering smile was immediate, and it was all he could do to hold it back enough to not flash all his teeth at once. "Why no, young lady. Who could sleep! I have been nourishing myself with knowledge, which mere sleep can only look upon with envy. Though if I should find myself dozing under the furniture in another day or two, I can only hope that nobody will much mind my foolishness."

Ganta had been searching for a book with a picture of a ferris wheel. It's a task he had not been having an easy time with because he didn't have much experience with libraries, and being quite short made it hard to get at books above his head.

He wasn't paying attention as he came around a corner and happened upon Tegar'in. At the sight of him, he made a startled noise and stumbled back a step, ending up sitting down on the floor where he'd been standing. He stared in surprise, not so much scared as very surprised.

"Ah...um...?"

The first thought that flashed through his head was that he should go immediately, but before the thought could even finish itself it was already too late for even teleportation to prevent his being spotted. Tegar'in noticeably winced when the boy hit the floor...so much for caution.

He closed the book he was holding and eased downward, going from eight feet high standing on two legs to rather less than that standing on all four - or rather three, considering the clawed hand holding the book to his chest. It was much the same as you might do in order to seem less intimidating to a nervous stray cat. "Oh dear. Are you all right?"

"Um, yes. I'm fine." Ganta stood quickly, looking at him with unveiled curiosity and only a hint of nervousness.. "I...I've never seen you before."

"Aye, well. I've not been here long, and much of that time has been eaten up by assisting an acquaintance with his research. I apologize if I've startled you - at times one does forget that anything besides books dwells in a lovely old place like this one."

With Tegar'in crouched like this the two of them were more or less at eye level with one another; his eyes were like old coins, and did not blink quite as often as eyes probably should. Still his voice was pleasant enough, and aside from his somewhat restless tail he did his best not to move about again just yet.
