Finally, the squeeky hinges roused Dean from his slumber enough for him to fumble for something on the nightstand and throw it in the vague direction of the door. The something was a beer can, and it missed the door by a mile. Similar others lay scattered around.
The room was a mess. The evidence of late night pie raids sat in a stack on the desk next to a pile of empty plastic cassette cases. The cassettes themselves were perched in a teetering stack atop the ancient boombox.
An avalanche of laundry poured out of the bathroom and were she to peek in there she would see several toothpaste clumps around the sink and a showercurtain in need of a good scrub.
After his attempt to get her to go away Dean fell limply back into bed. In a few moments he was snoring softly. Without Sammy to wake him he was content to sleep into till the crack of noon.
"Wow." She murmured softly, peering around at all the mess. Someone must have been lucky enough to never have the sort of mom who raised a bit of a stink about clutter all over the house. Or maybe it was just a thing with boys, having a room that was just a little bit funky and not in a good way.
...While the mansion was magic enough for repairing broken mirrors and walls on itself, making an endless supply of food, and making new clothes in the closet, she guessed it had to draw the line somewhere in making things too easy on the people that lived here. There was no magic mansion maids.
Coraline didn't even realize Dean was asleep in bed until he rustled in the covers and something went flying across the darkened room.
When that happened, her eyes widened and she pulled the door abruptly shut, feeling a bit awkward of poking in on sleeping people who liked lobbing things at disturbances.
As the door tapped shut Dean bolted upright in bed, Bowie knife in hand. Subconsciously he knew someone had been there in the room moments before. His eyes darted from left to right
( ... )
Dean sounded sleepy-angry, which made her shoulders jump a little as she paused mid-step, glancing behind her sheepishly. She'd have to put him on the grouchy-woken-person list, for future references..
But for now, the best alternative seemed to be dashing down the hallway, her boots squeaking on tile with ever step, skidding slightly as she nearly over-ran the staircases.
"Sorry!" She piped over her shoulder, along with a frantic friendly wave in hopes of reconciliation later, after Dean had his two mugs of coffee or something.
Most grouchy-morning adults needed something like that.

Molly really hadn't been expecting visitors that day. Ron was busy she was sure, and Harry was as well. She didn't particularly feel like seeking out Sirius' company for obvious reasons and Sam was also busy. So, she'd taken to dealing with her room, or the room she was assuming was hers as it had made its decorations quite to her liking.
The knock on her door made her pause a moment, glancing over at it before she moved to pull it open. "Hello there, dear. What can I do for you?"

Coraline really liked Mrs. Weasley. Aside from being a witch, she seemed the sort of person who could live somewhere very close to home, maybe even in the same building...if she had less kids of her own to make space for.
She was definitely the good kind of mom. The makes-you-cookies kind of mom, and yet not so perfect that she'd begin to suspect any relations to the creepy Other People...well, and she also lacked the buttons in her eyes, but that just confirmed it.
"Hi!" She waved a little. Usually adults whisked her into some activity or shooed her off without really giving her the moment to speak that Coraline was sort of unused to being listened to. The mansion's network had proved most delightedly the opposite for her, so she waited a pause before sucking in a deep breath and trying to look her most pleasantly cheerful as her words hurried along. "I'm just stopping around to see everybody. It's a rainy day and there's nothing else to do, so...I thought I'd see what other people are up to."
Molly was the type of mother to whisk someone into an activity or chore when she really could use the help or when she was trying to stop children from leaving the house to do dangerous things like fight the Dark Lord. Here, however, it was a little different, and the most Molly would have done would be to get Coraline involved in things that would be good for her. In a way, she saw the young girl as needing a mother figure and when would Molly Weasley deny anyone a mother figure?
Molly smiled warmly down at the girl. "Well, if you'd like to come in, I was just cleaning up a little around here. Do you live on this floor?" she asked, opening the door further and moving into the room again so Coraline could step inside. "You can leave the door open. I was just moving a few things away from it."
Normally she did leave the door open so people could see her or find her if they needed her, but she really had been cleaning and moving things in front of the door, so it had been shut for the moment.
"Oh...cleaning?" Coraline wrinkled her nose a little glumly, trying to stay polite and accept the offer instead of shying off to more exciting things, but stepped inside because she was curious what a real witch-mom-lady's room would look like on the inside.
Maybe wizard cleaning was a bit more like Mary Poppins on one of her videos back home, after all. Which could be snappy fun to watch.
"I've just been going around....I like visiting." She explains with a shrug.
