During Lithuania's time in the castle, a lot of things had changed -- events, people had called them, and although Lithuania had really only been around for about a month, he considered himself at least basically familiar with and ready for any further changes the mansion might spring on them.

And then he'd woken up in a place entirely different ( ... )

"I've never seen anything but water out there" The boy shook his head, already glancing around at the split logs and rope...like many other skills the replica realized he had on instinct, Arland knew in a moment he somehow knew how to construct a raft, how to lash the right knotting in a sail and catch the wind...

The island beckoned. The water was probably still pretty cold, and if you went out too far, he knew from experience, something would drag you down into black and the dark would force you out cold until you woke and found yourself bobbing inexplicably in the mansion's swimming pool.

But with a new patch of green out there, it was stupider to not try.

"Hey..." He looked to Lithuania. "Hand me that rope over there...we're gonna make a raft to float over."

"A raft?" Lithuania's eyes brightened considerably at the thought. To get away... it would be wonderful! He'd always entertained thoughts of escape, but it had never really gone very far. Not from the mansion -- other people said there was no way, and honestly, he was quick to trust them -- but from Russia, that was a different story. And even if they didn't stay on the island very long, it would still be an escape, an adventure, and just the thought was making Liet feel recharged.

"Okay!" Lithuania didn't have the first idea how to make a raft, but he trusted Arland would know. He was resourceful, after all. He'd found Liet's flag amidst all the chaos of the butterfly event and everything. He probably knew a ton of useful stuff.

Turning towards the direction Arland had gestured, Lithuania grabbed up the long piece of rope, bringing it over to the other boy. "Have you ever made a raft before?" he asked, curiously.

Well. Arland hesitated. Had he ever built one personally? No...but he knew how. He was sure of it. Riku had done it before, and that could almost count.

So he tossed his head confidently, braggish, and beamed up at Lithuania, taking the rope length and tying off the first knot.

"Oh, dozens of times." He lied with confidence.

A strong wing cut a groove in the sand as Aang whizzed up the beach on an air scooter. He bounced to his feet next to Arland, the concentrated ball of air dissolving as he landed.

"Wow. That's a great view," he said, shading his eyes to see out over the ocean. "But was that island there yesterday?"

Was the Mansion bringing Lion-turtles over now? Crazy.

The stirring sand brough hands up to shield his face, and when a boy came along with the mini-cyclone, Arland mouth just hung slightly agape for moment.

...that was some Aeroga spell. Even Sora's wasn't that good.

"It wasn't." He confirmed, shrugging a little bewildered. Maybe that was something to be suspicious of, but...mostly he was curious. Would the mansion let them go that far?

He grinned sideways at the bald kid. "...Wanna go out there?"

"Yeah!"

Oblivious to the other boy's surprise, Aang raced to the water and, leaping in the air, made a sweeping motion with his hands that froze the back of a wave into a solid sheet of ice.

"Last one there's a chicken-turtle!" Aang called, as he landed on the ice and took off, leaping on his ice-board over the crests of waves, whooping and laughing as he sped across the surface of the water.

"Whoa, wha-" ...And clench-fisted, lunging forward as Aang took off with a stab of jealously at how easy the younger kid made it look, Arland stared in mild disbelief before calling out over the roar of waves.

"WAIT! COME BACK! THAT'S NOT FAIR AT ALL, IF YOU'RE GONNA USE- Ennhhh." He turned, disgusted, and flopped in the sand beside a few lengths of driftwood, tugging one end of a log into his lap and starting the first winding knot. "...C'mon Lithuania. Shake out the sailcloth."

Any sore feelings at having been beaten by a 'loser', were soon replaced with curiousity and wonder. A blur mainly consisting of black and silver came to a halt, the remnant far more interested now in whatever Arland was motioning for.

"What is it?" He had to squint his eyes a bit to make it out more. An island? An escape, an adventure. A rare grin formed, eager and determined to take this chance to go somewhere new and different from the monotonous halls of the mansion.

He would get there before Arland did.

Stepping a bit further, until he reached moist sand, Kadaj leaned down, scooping up a rather generous clump and threw it right past the other's shoulder. "Bet I can get there first!"

Not wasting another second, he rushed over to grab a few logs, determined to create a means to get there first.

He leaned sideways as Kadaj's hurled sand scattered in the wind, thankfully he was upwind of the toss, so it didn't fling back into his eyes.

"Hah! You wish!" Arland sneered, flinging a handful of sand back half-heartedly as he started fitting a second length of wood against the first.

Not bothering to dodge, Kadaj quickly rushed over, taking what he would need. He wasn't going to waste his time making a whole raft. Even if that meant his creation would possibly fall apart halfway through.

A few more pieces of wood, two ropes, an oar and a sheet were gathered in front of him. In a determined silence, he began tying the wood together, his attention occasionally sidetracked by the lull of the water, or the sand that was so perfect for drawing in, which he found himself doing a few times.

Yuffie had been up in a tree trying to figure out what that thing out there was. It looked to her like an island, but then what else could it be? Not a ship or animal. Still, it didn't quite look like an island, it sort of bothered her.

When people started showing up at the beach it made her jump down and run to it as well. No way! All those people gathering around and leaving her out. They were probably trying to go to the thing out there, well no way she was going to let them get there first!

"Hey! Don't you leave me behind!"

He glanced over his shoulder and grinned to his Ninja friend, now a little bit more sporting about her having reached the beach first...because at least he'd come up with the idea of how to get out there before anyone.

"You were right." Arland smirked, tossing her the other end of the rope and jerking his chin in the direction of the opposite side of the raft framework. "There is an island."

She caught the rope and then looked ahead. "It's a funny looking island, it almost dosn't look real."

She wanted to go over there, she wanted to see what it was. She wanted to claim it as hers and in the name of Wutai.

"What are you doing?"

"Wouldn't be so weird." He shrugged in return, inwardly pleased with her good catch. Yuffie's coordination kept his own with the fierce determination to be just as sharp, if not better.

"The way this place plays with our heads, I'm starting to think everything in this Mansion's a- ....not...necessarily real." Arland squinted ahead, squeezing his eye shut once as the dizzy feeling filled his head again, briefly.

"We're making a raft to float over." A bit of unconscious bossiness came somewhat second-nature to him, particularly around his peers. "Tie off that end there. Make a frame, c'mon. It'll go faster if we make it together."

Fakir had hurried out as well, leaving the mansion-turned castle behind him. He was compelled to run outside, blaming it on the fact that he had been challenged, and cabin fever from shutting himself indoors most of the winter. He even found himself running to the beach when he finally made it outside.

There was a sword at his side, though not his usual one. It was clunky and wooden, and had been a last-minute thought as he was running out the door. When Arland had given it to him for Christmas, it had come with a note about meeting on the beach anyway. It felt more like an accessory than anything, seeing as he wouldn't really be able to use it in a fight.

He slowed to a stop as he heard Arland though, and he stared out into the distance and stared at the mysterious green in the distance.

" What is it?" Fakir called out. " Shouldn't you know?" This was an event from Arland's world, from what he had said earlier. He should know better than anyone else, Fakir thought.

And glancing over his shoulder to find Fakir there (Hah, and prepared too...Arland wished he'd thought to bring along his play-sword), he gave a shrug, squinting again at the clump of green "...I'd never been outside the Castle, before I came here."

"Unless its the island from my memories." He considered, tightening a knot that bound two logs together, grunting a little with the effort. "But they're just..." He looked up to the sky open mouthed, a bit bewildered for a moment that the word evaded him.

"Not-real ones. Made up."

Fakir looked over at Arland, and then back out that the distant green out on the ocean, before walking closer to where he was working.

" You know," Fakir said. " Even if they're fake, they're still the things you remember."

He was not very good at conveying what he meant when he was trying to be nice. He stopped and he looked away and tried to regain his thoughts in a way that made sense outside of his own mind.

" So...it could be. We'll have to find out what it is," he said. " Besides, we should find out what's over there anyway, since it just showed up like that."

Admittedly, Fakir was curious as well in a more childish way that he tried to shove aside as best as he could. But then he thought, well what if there's something dangerous on that island? It could swim over and be a threat to the safety of Mytho and everyone else as well. Before he knew it, Fakir was gathering materials himself.

"Huh?" Arland looked sideways a little curious, unsure of what one of those words meant, but he folded his arms and stuck out his chin and shrugged it off like a pro anyway "...Of course I can remember them. Namine fixed them, and now I won't forget...They're still important, because she put them there for me."

He raised a brow at Fakir's settling to work, but then decided he should finish up on his own raft, so as to show the others how it was properly done. He jerked loosely on Fakir's ponytail as he passed, grinning.

"Try not to drown, okay twinkletoes?"
