MISSION POST: Maros An - Day 48 - Private

Sep 26, 2010 19:46

Jay had her padd out as she headed down to the shuttle bay, reading over the mission briefing one last time. The information provided still seemed a little scarce. Nevertheless, she thought she had a fairly solid idea of what she was going to be doing while they were down there. The more time-consuming part of the whole affair would be testing ( Read more... )

"Oh, hey, could you not...oh," Donnie said frantically as Jay sat down. He'd been shooing off people from sitting next to him since the shuttle started loading. He'd been in the hanger since 10 minutes prior to boarding asking the pilot repeatedly if they were seating yet, wanting to have first picks.

He knew Jay, though. So if he had to pick anyone to have sitting next to him it would be her. He nodded at her and at his PADD. "Hi," he suddenly remembered to say.

"Good morning," Jay replied, smoothing off her skirt distractedly as she settled into the seat. Six years and she still wasn't entirely comfortable with the feel of dry cloth against her skin. "Are you well?" she added, more for form's sake than anything else, as she reached for the harness to buckle herself in.

"Why? Do I look sick?" Donnie asked checking his own buckle as he watched her. He looked back at the rows of seats with a huff. The shuttle was nearly full. It's why he'd chosen to sit up front. "I have been feeling a little off. At least I think I have. Does my eye look red to you at all? Nevermind." He waved her off.

"Hey, so, you'll have fun on this thing, huh? Chemist," he grumbled. Donnie was wearing a short sleeved version of his tunic. He didn't want to get overheated. He programmed it to actually fit him, though. Often the computer made the sleeves too wide and they slid across his arms making him itch.

"'Scuse me. Yeah, could you just--sorry--" Zan, protectively clutching a tricorder he was only half certain he knew how to use, edged sideways down the aisle into one of the few empty seats left, trying not to jostle anyone. He didn't mind sitting next to a stranger, though he'd hoped for a seat next to someone who was reading something interesting so that he could have some entertainment-by-osmosis for the ride, but--oh, excellent, there was a free seat in the row behind Jay and Donnie, and he knew both of them. He made his way slowly toward it.

"Hi," he said to Donnie, and < Hey, how are you,> to Jay, with a bright smile. Maybe he didn't know either of them spectacularly well, but having them to talk to was somewhat reassuring, enough to take his mind off his anxiety for a few minutes. He'd always wanted to go on an away mission, but...not like this. The last thing a diplomatic powder keg like this mission needed was a telepath pretending to be something he wasn't. It wasn't right.
