Coming off a quiet shift in Engineering, Robert was looking forward to the buzz of activity and potential conversations he'd no doubt find in the mess hall. After spending all day looking at PADDs, Janice shouldn’t have been staring at one when she was supposed to be eating. She should give her eyes time to rest and take the time to enjoy a meal eaten somewhere other than at her desk, but Glory Road was much more interesting than the salad in front of her. Anyway, if she was eating alone, what difference did it make if she -

She blinked away thoughts of heroes and space empresses to look up at Lieutenant Leslie. Chair? What chair? Oh, that chair. "Um -" She shut down the PADD and smiled, trying not to blush over her mental flailing. "It's not. Please sit down."

Thoughts of old sci-fi novels disappeared when she noticed Lieutenant Leslie nearing her table.

"Thanks," he said, typically happy and laid back, as he took the chair opposite her. Admittedly, Robert had an amused little grin on his face. Mostly because Yeoman Rand had looked so flustered. Then again, that's what he got for sneaking up on people. "And, uh, sorry if I scared you."
