MISSION POST: Conference Room - Day 44 - Private...ish?

Jun 29, 2010 22:45

It was with a distinct air of purpose that Creed made her way to the conference room for the preliminary briefing. It had been too long in between missions, the lull drawing on long enough that people were starting to get bored. A new assignment was exactly what they needed ( Read more... )

Leonard showed up not long after. A little winded from -- yep, you guessed it -- taking the chutes up to Deck One. But not nearly as badly as before. One thing you could say for this damn thing with the turbolift, he was getting a great cardio workout.

Looking around the conference room, he saw it was just him and Creed right now. Thank god, someone he was still talking to. The list seemed to be growing just as fast as the number of turbotraps. Top of the list being Jim and Spock, ironically. Well, whatever. He was too busy being the Master of Stairmasters, when not passing the time away like a sardine. They could look him up -- or pull him outta the damn lift -- once they got their heads outta their asses.

Leonard sat down next to Creed as he nodded to her in greeting. "Commander. How's things in Security?"

David's green head peeked into the conference room, still a few minutes early. He saw McCoy and Lynn and leaned out checking the room and comparing it to the message he'd received on his PADD (the official one, not the smaller ones he kept in his pockets). He leaned back in and waited for a pause in their conversation.

"Is this the-uh-the right room for the mission?" David asked, pointing to his PADD at the message he'd gotten.

It wasn't like it was easy to miss all that green when it popped into the room. Then popped back out, and came back a few seconds later. Still, Leonard had chosen to ignore the odd game of Hokey Pokey until Tinny finally spoke up. It wouldn't be accurate to say they'd mended all fences together. Leonard still had a few issues with the man. But some good had come out of their time trapped in the lift together. He could put aside most concerns for the sake of professionalism, at least.

"Yeah, this is the conference room," he answered after a pause. Wondered what kind of room the man was expecting them to have a department meeting in. Sure the hell not another lift, thank god. "C'mon on in and plunk yourself down. We don't have much of assigned seatin'. 'Cept for the Captain's chair, of course. Spock usually hordes the chair with the computer." They played interpreter for each other, probably.

"Well, thank you doctor," Creed replied. She set her padd down on the table and smiled politely at him. Well, something approaching politely. She was still more than a little irritated at having been left out of the loop about the faked chemical crisis. But there was a time and a place to air frustrations, and a mission briefing was definitely neither.

She directed a rather warmer smile at David when he appeared in the doorway. "Yes, take a seat. The meeting should be starting soon."
