Sickbay & Personal Quarters- Day 34 - [private/finished]

Jan 31, 2010 23:08

All fun and games were over now. Or almost over. It was the morning of the day before setting out on their next assignment. Leonard was glaring at Medical's duty assignments and scheduling. Trying to ignore the various aches left over from last night's drunken karaoke excesses. Lord, booze and song were really a bad combo for him. He pushed ( Read more... )

This was not cool. Rueben faceplamed and went over to the couch where he had been sitting reading a medical journal and reached between the cushions. Damn it. Wasn't there ether. Rueben stood up and sighed in frustration. An hour of searching for his bubble gum and coming up empty handed did not put Rueben Tyler in a happy mood. When his PADD beeped he rolled his eyes and cursed under his breath as he picked it up. Who would be sending him anythin----

A message from Doc McCoy? He quickly opened it and quickly read it. Then quickly read it again. And once more just to make sure. He forgot about his lost gum and grinned like a mad man then frowned a bit. Anderson...fuck. He rubbed his forehead and nodded. Well he had his own shift and that was good. If Doc McCoy didn't trust him and think him able he wouldn't have his own shift. Sweet that was a good thing. Very good thing. But bad thing: Anderson.

Rueben sat back at his desk and started to write back.

'I have concerns about his skill and his professionalism.'

"Yeah, well, join the club, kid." Leonard rolled his eyes and snorted when he read Tyler's reply. Then sighed and scowled as he reread Anderson's latest blunder. Checked the medical logs and sure enough, there was an incident report filed by Tyler about it. Godfuckingdamnit, he did not have the time, or energy, to keep covering for Anderson' ineptitude. It was like the man was regressing. Leonard never thought he'd think this, but he almost liked the man better when he was just a speciesist.

He gave the matter another brooding thought before replying to Tyler.

No need to thank me, man. You've earned it. I need a strong chain of competent command on each of the shifts. Disease and disaster doesn't limit itself to a 9-5 work ethic. That's also why I'm placing Anderson under your supervision. I'm finding myself having to do and redo more of his work each week. I can't keep an eye on him when I need both for the next damn spores event to pop up. One patient has ( ... )

Another moment's thought after sending his last message, then Leonard was replying again to Tyler.

PS: If you haven't already done so, your first act as supervisor can be training him on how to fill out those damn charts. That's just inexcusable. Chart-filling is one of the Sacred Skills of a doctor, up there with hypoing and medical lingo bullshit.

'Disease and disaster doesn't limit itself to a 9-5 work ethic'

He chuckled. Rueben couldn't ask for a better boss on a Starship, he had thought he'd be stuck with some cruel by the book jackass. Oh how wrong he'd been. He sighed and kicked his regulation boots up onto the desk thinking of how to reply. Running a quick hand through his hair then getting down to typing.

Doctor,
I don't know what I could have done to have earned this but I won't second guess you. Okay so I get Anderson and that mean's I get to play professor and teach him medical school again? Alright. I'll do my best to run through the basics with Anderson and hopefully improve his skills.
