Really, she wasn't sure she had time to dance today. But forty minutes in bed had proved sleep wasn't going to grace her with its presence, and Christine still had time to kill before she met with Leonard on Starbase Elipson for an afternoon of medical staff bonding, so dancing it was ( Read more... )

Spock was on his way to the gym, heading to get out of his own room and Science Lab Four. He had plans to work on his Suus Mahna techniques, get his blood flowing and maybe get his mind centered enough to meditate. He stepped into the gym as he heard the jazz music play, wondering what could be going on. Instead of some sort or party or something he was greeted by the sight of Nurse Chapel.

He watched her closely as she danced, standing just inside the door. She was impressive, very graceful as she dance making it very hard to look away. So he didn’t. The Vulcan stood there watching in fascination at the human.

Step, two, chassè, pivot-and-step and - Bending confidently into a clean lay-out, Christine's new line of site revealed an audience. Giving a little gasp, she lost her balance. Only a fortunate arm position let her catch herself in a bridge rather than flat out falling. Both feet flat on the ground, she stood, turning to face the Commander. Still in a dance frame of mind, she instinctively curtsied her greeting.

"Mister Spock," Christine said with a polite smile, working to catch her breath. Then, louder, "Computer, pause music." As her soundtrack came to a halt, she turned her attention back to Spock. "I'm sorry, I didn't see you there."

He had started to move forward as she looked about ready to fall but when she caught herself he just raised an eyebrow and bowed his head going back to his normal straight posture. Once the music stopped he spoke.

"Nurse Chapel." he greeted curtly. "You have no need to apologize as I am the one who distracted you." he moved into the gym a few more steps and stood with his hands clasped behind his back. "Your dancing was quite impressive Nurse."

Moving for her water bottle, Christine instinctivelynodded at the praise. "Why, thank you, sir," she said, genuine. "I admittedly don't dance for anaudience much anymore."

She spent a moment torn between adopting a posture mirroring his or being technically rude and taking a drink. Her wanting to avoid being sick with dyhydration won out, though, and she took long drink of water, very aware of Spock's gaze.
