A day is a day, you know...

Pretty boring day. Had the day off from school, which was nice, so I slept in a bit and headbanged most of the day. I gave both of my trumpets a bath, since Saint Christopher hadn't had a bath since the beginning of marching season and Saint Christian (yes, I know it is weird what I named my trumpets) hadn't EVER had a bath (I got him about six ( Read more... )

I'd love to share that with you, but I think the idea is so...broad and confusing...that I need to save it for an entry.

But basically I'm more spiritual than religious. I still feel something that many have called "The Holy Spirit" but I interpret it as the Earth's energy/aura, which is what ultimately energizes and animates all of us. God is not an omniscient entity so to speak, so much as it is...(how should I put this)...a collective spiritual energy that each of us contributes to, simply by being...

If religion is supposed to govern all of us, then why does it mutually exclude so many (like believers of other "false" religions and homosexuals)? Jesus taught brotherly love, yet the religions who worship him teach us to separate amongst ourselves based on our level of faith.

Confusing indeed, my good friend!

You sound like a Transcendentalist to me, a view I highly agree with. Transcendentalism just makes more...SENSE.

I know, and that is exactly why the whole organized religon thing makes very little sense to me, at least pieces of it. It is so MIND-BLOWING how people can just walk up to someone and say, "Because you are ________, you are wrong. Change or you'll go to hell."

I like to say I have no preferece when it comes to my beliefs, which also includes agnostic and athestic views. I don't like to classify myself as being a follower one type of type of belief system. I just go by the fact that I should live life to the fullest, give everyone a chance and then not completely stay away from what would be considered risky or unacceptable but rather learn from my mistakes. And by unacceptable I don't mean like...Really drastic stuff like killing and whatever, but small things that people tend make a huge deal out of. There are far worse things in the world than smoking a joint or having a night of hard partying. As long as it's not going to interfere with the relationships you have with other people or affect your health in any significant way then go for it ( ... )

That makes perfect sense. I agree fully with everything you're saying; I just have a hard time thinking about the world without some sort of higher being.

I don't enjoy jumping on people. I may be good at it, but I don't enjoy it. ;) And thank you.

I have no idea what Taoism is. An explanation, please?

Oh, yes, I put the mix option in there just for you. :D

Hmmm. Interesting. I like it. Note to self: Research Taoism. And find the title of that book.

That was the whole point, my friend. I enjoy honoring my LJ friends from time to time. :D

I'd love to agree with your points, but I'm more of an Agnostic. So, I'm a twid closer to real life than most. But I guess if I really thought about it, I'm more of a Realist.

But that's not a religion, now, is it?

You don't have to agree with my points; in fact, I'd be rather disappointed if you did. ;)

i guess i'd fall somewhere within the boundaries of atheist; as bad as it might sound, i've really never been able to make myself care enough to really get involved in any religion; i don't know enough about any of them to agree or disagree. maybe if i was a braver person i'd be willing to accept the idea of some sort of god or higher power just on a basic level, but... i'm not, and i can't even make myself seriously consider the idea. i guess i'm just not willing to accept the idea of something so unfathomable. i used to call myself a satanist but i don't think i ever actually believed in satan or the devil or anything like that; i was just drawn to the fact that it's so taboo.

I've always thought of atheism as a very honest option; you don't believe in anything and you're not going to pretend you do. If it's unfathomable, it's unfathomable.

And somehow, the Satanist thing doesn't surprise me. ;)

No, I didn't mean the "bad ideas" general stereotype; I meant the taboo subject in general. I seem to recall telling my parents I had converted to Wicca just because I was hooked on the subject at the time and wanted to see how badly I could scare them.
