Working out issues.

He had failed many times. After getting the hang of the holodeck, he had managed to program a scenario, through voice commands. However, he had been failing miserably. He had managed to program it in detail, even given the exact specification of the Punisher to the computer so he could use it in holographic form. The problem, in the end, was with ( Read more... )

Wolfwood looked up, and, while stunned at the young girl's beauty, he recognized her as one of his prospective students, even with Roxie's voted destruction of what he had seen as a sign of hope for the children on ship. In fact, it was one of the girls that had volunteered. At the sae time, she was incredibly attractive, and he was extremely emotionally vulnerable.

Desperately, he looked away, trying to avoid her clothing choice and her seeing him cry.

"I couldn't do what?" He asked after a moment.

"I killed everyone was my 'objective'." He said bitterly, and looked at her. "My job in this was to protect that family. To not let my actions allow another to die. I just... gave in to who I used to be to get over something I'm not sure I can get over after all." He brought himself to stand, and looked up, feeling he needed to most times.

"Computer, chair." A chair appeared with which he happily sat on.

"I think you misunderstood what I was trying to do, miss."

Fletcher was feeling a little fuzzy after waking up, but he still remembered his way around the station. He was going around to see what all had changed since he'd been re-podded, and somehow found himself at the holodeck.

But someone else was here -- alone, and crying.

"Um-- s-sorry," Fletcher stuttered out. He hadn't meant to barge in. (He also wasn't aware of how busy the holodeck usually was. Way to go.)

Wolfwood looked up and tried his best at a smile.

"No, kiddo, you don't have to leave." He said with a sad smile. "I was just... trying something, and it didn't work. Made me sad. I was planning on leaving anyhow, if you wanted to use this." He again tried his best to smile, but it was the smile of someone desperately sad, someone who didn't have anything to live for.

Fletcher hung back, close to the entrance. He wasn't one to argue, but even he could see how sad the man looked.

"I... I was just looking around, it's okay..." He didn't have the first idea how this technology worked, to begin with. "Um, are you okay though?"

"It's fine if you want to stay, kid." He got up and wiped his eyes.

"I'm... I'm trying to leave something I don't want to be behind me, and it's coming hard. Someone your age shouldn't know about things like that." He finally at least managed a smile that wasn't full of sorrow, though it remained fake.

"What are you here for?"

Sam had been wandering around the station for a little while, just trying to get a feel for the place. It was strange and foreign, but at the same time, homey and familiar. Like liverwurst and cheese, it was a rather unsettling combination. This process had led to his wandering into the council meeting and saying his piece (even if it wasn't good enough), and he'd seen this guy there. It was no surprise that when he wandered into here and saw this special little spaghetti western he'd stuck around.

Sam just leaned against a wall, waiting to see what would happen next. Of course, that was before the guy broke down. It was tempting to just leave him there to wallow in his grief (or pity, or whatever it was), but he'd been raised better than that. Not too much of it had stuck, but enough.

"That does not paint a pleasant image of you past," he said, offering the guy his hand. "You gonna make it, man?"

Roxie doesn't say anything. Rather, she waits quietly in the doorway, watching. With her arms folded under that crude poncho she wears, she seems even smaller than she normally is.
