I ♥ George Takei SO MUCH.

Second, I hear the day of judgment is upon us. I've seen a few billboards with the flames and the date and the dire warnings. As nnaylime pointed out, tomorrow is supposed to be the rapture, but the end of the world isn't actually scheduled until October. (And I probably don't make the cut for this ( Read more... )

I love the sign with "The Bible Guarantees It". Apparently these jackholes skipped over Matthew 24:36

No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

LOL

As Bobby would say, "Idjits."

a) Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee George Takei lolol heart heart heart.

b) I have a friend whose birthday is tomorrow, and her view on the whole rapture scenario is that it's ironic she's not the only one who feels like the world's ending when she turns thirty.

I've never really understood the idea of what this 'rapture' is supposed to be about. Might be cause I'm catholic, but I never understood how people can be so... arrogant that they simply expect to be amongst the ones 'saved'.

The rapture is a peculiarly American idea, according to one of my seminary profs, based on the idea that "God's chosen" will be taken up to heaven prior to the final judgment, when great suffering will be visited upon the earth. This period of suffering is usually referred to as "the tribulation." Christian groups here differ immensely on whether or not there will be a rapture, and if there is one, whether it will happen before, during, or after the tribulation.

But there are a lot of Christians who don't buy into these ideas at all, and that would include me.

He claims he'd decoded the Bible and has done math that proves this. Nice that he can know, when the Bible tells us that not even the Son of Man - Jesus Himself - knows that day and hour.

*sigh*

Takei for the win!
