So, because I've spent an inordinate amount of time thinking about this, I figure I should just go ahead and make a post sharing my knowledge. Also, I am involved in too many fandoms where this is a Thing, and it's a Thing that people (namely people writing for certain shows) get wrong

So the answer is: the writers of that show didn't know as much about the military as you do. :P

But now you've got me thinking about logistics of the Stargate program's relationship with the VA. Because you KNOW those SG units had PTSD.

Right?! I would think that the SGC would have its own VA system. Like, there's a secret benefits office that just handles SGC personnel.
