Otis and Wiley, the last two cats that were part of our family, adjusted to each other rapidly. Wiley was my daughter's cat, but she is asthmatic and the long haired cat was a disaster for her. So we took him. I think Otis was aware of Wiley via scent on Naomi's clothing. Within a few days they were not hissing at each other.
When I brought my second cat (Gert) home, the cat we currently had (Nemo) HAAAAATED it. She hissed and growled and chased her around. But then she got over it in a few days and they've been BFFs every since. :)
Hee! I hope that happens. Quincey seems to be chilling out about it, but Natasha is still taking swipes at Q with claws out, so I'm not sure what's going to happen there.
