One week after lap - update

May 25, 2010 15:25

I had an extensive lap last Wed, so it's been almost a week. They removed my left ovary, which was covered in endo and stuck to my colon, and removed a bunch of endo on the bottom/underneath my uterus. She said she was surprised to find as much as she did. In addition, I had a Mirena IUD put in. I'm also on my period. So all in all, that makes for ( Read more... )

thanks so much for posting this. reading your story gave me some renewed hope even though i don't know when i will ever be able to get another lap from a decent doctor as i am having such a hard time with insurance right now. it *was* sooo frustrating after i got my lap, about 4 years ago, for the doctor to tell me she found nothing other than retrograde menstruation and to just take ibuprofen (as if i went through SURGERY for something ibuprofen could help with, duh). everyone, including other doctors and women with endo i've told my story to and shown photos of the lap say "that looks like endo." if nothing else, a diagnosis would make me feel a lot better, and hopefully make doctors take me more seriously.
i'm so glad that you finally got one. i might have some more questions for you later, if you wouldn't mind. and thank you again for sharing your story.

Goodness, I am glad to hear you're doing better. I had an IUD put in during surgery too, and you'll most likely hurt the first few months. I've been cramping the past few days [no bleeding! No periods! yay!!], but I think that's due to my step sister being on her period.

I had my surgery+insertion back in December. The constant bleeding and pains from the IUD stopped around a month or more ago? At any rate, good luck! Sounds like you went through a lot. :(

Silkfetus, of course feel free to message me privately if you want to talk or ask more questions. I don't know where you live, but my doctor is in Denver and is just awesome if there was any way you could see her. If not, maybe post on here where you live and ask other women if they can recommend any doctors ( ... )
