I had an extensive lap last Wed, so it's been almost a week. They removed my left ovary, which was covered in endo and stuck to my colon, and removed a bunch of endo on the bottom/underneath my uterus. She said she was surprised to find as much as she did. In addition, I had a Mirena IUD put in. I'm also on my period. So all in all, that makes for ( Read more... )

Silkfetus, of course feel free to message me privately if you want to talk or ask more questions. I don't know where you live, but my doctor is in Denver and is just awesome if there was any way you could see her. If not, maybe post on here where you live and ask other women if they can recommend any doctors.

I just read in a book that many doctors just look for "chocolate" endo - that is, black scar tissue. If they don't see it right away, they just assume you don't have it. But, endo can come in many different colors, and it takes an experienced doctor to really find it. Here's a link to some specialists: http://www.endo-resolved.com/specialist.html. There's also http://www.centerforendo.com/ in Atlanta. I considered going there until I found my doctor now.

This link is also very good for helping you find a doctor that's a good fit for you: http://www.endometriosis.org/finding-a-specialist.html. In fact, that entire site is enormously helpful on all issues regarding endometriosis.

Feel free to contact me! I know how you feel. All in all, I saw four doctors before I was finally diagnosed. I've read that for many women, the average is five doctors before a correct diagnosis.

Good luck. : )
