TBH, really didn't like how they dealt with Mel. She was so blatantly shoehorned in. A third of an episode to establish a previously unmentionned 'best friend' was just... ugh.
Loved the post regeneration river, though. Well, Melody becoming River. Start the episode from there without arguing about the nonsense that led up to it and I'd be happy. Actually, maybe start from the bit where Rory punches out Hitler, that was cool, and nicely acted.
Part of me also thinks this is how they plan to get round the Doctor almost being out of regenerations. If River burnt pushed them all into the Doctor, he may well have a few extras spare now ;)
