I think it is more a confirmation of Mr Moffat's, method of thinking and line delivery than actually re-making dr who.. ..

When Gatiss first turned up, I thought he was Moriarty. Then I thought harder and thought "Hm, maybe it's a cunning double bluff and he's actually Mycroft". I was quite chuffed with myself by the end.

I want that coat though.

So I'm not the only one to have Princess Bride thoughts over the two pills.

I've finally got round to watching the first episode (hurrah for iplayer) so I've gone back to read this post.

Aside from saying it was the cabbie since the walk to the restaurant scene - there was too much taxi noise on the soundtrack - I totally thought the Princess Bride with the pills.

I've heard the Sherlock Holmes/Timelord theory before - I recall reading a rather bad novel in high school where he is from the future, and Moriarty is his evil twin/clone/him from another reality - but this does feed into that theory well.
