Huh. My connection is down at home, so I've been reduced to job hunting online while at work. I'm clearly not the only one- and mysteriously, the job sites have all been unblocked ( Read more... )

1- If you are looking to move for jobs then don't feel the need to restrict yourself to Birmingham. Manchester and Preston are also nearby. A wide net catches many fishes.

2- It may be that you really don't need Maelstrom stress. In that instance I'd advise creating a secondary character so all you have to worry about is turning up and having a fun time. With a secondary you don't have to worry about death, about your allies and friends dying and can get on with just enjoying Maelstrom without the usual baggage.

1- OK ... Preston is nearer to Derby than Exeter. Then again when you live in Exeter everything is nearer to everything else than to Exeter.

2- A secondary character may well have friends/allies/desires etc. However, with a long-running character there is sometimes a lot of stress involved where a lot is emotionally invested in the character. A secondary dosn't (nesicarily) have that same intensity of emotional attachment and thus can be more relaxing to play, especially if you create a character who dosn't really care if TradeHouseX gets rolled by the Red Pogoians, or if character X manages to get his Pogoian Battleyacht.

Ha, at this rate I'll end up looking in Bristol. At least that's the gateway between Exerter and the rest of Planet Earth.

I'm going to have to resew that bloody Rosa skirt. Grr. Well, it's not as though I can afford kit for a secondary character just now, and I don't think that eidolon concept I had would work now- the game's moved on since then.
