So then you have a situation where if the mother is in a life threatening situation where it's her life or the child's and it's illegal to perform the abortion? Then what
( ... )
I can understand it from that point of view and I do support that but I believe, as you said, that abortion should not be used as a form of birth control. If they want to legalise it, I say go ahead but put limitations on it, y'know?
That is really sick. My son was born 13 weeks early and even though he has several medical conditions, I wouldn't trade him for the world. Now, hubby and I have been going to the fertility clinic to try for a baby when we could love any baby, blood relation or not. I think 25 weeks (15 weeks early) is the minimum for when the drs will try to keep a baby alive, or at least that was the magic number when I had my son. It's sad to hear that that law is passing. I can keep an open mind about early/first trimester abortion but later than that I have a problem with.
In USA, South Dakota either has passed or is trying to pass a law that outlaws abortion. I'm scared that it might lead to pregnant girls dying when non-professionals try to help theme out. There has to be a meduim, not outlawing it completely and not allowing it at anytime. Definiately, when a ababy can be saved, they should be.
I agree. Not as a form of birth control. I do know some people who have casually used it as such in the past. Now, do keep in mind - in the US the year the government decided to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to pass the same law there was a total of...4... late term abortions. ALL of them to save the mother's life. IIRC, 2 of the babies were brain dead already, the other 2 were non-viable. (and there were 3 more the mom's brought to term, birthed, and when the children died within 3hrs, donated the organs and bodies for research and to save lives). I do not think there will actually be many - if any - late term abortions as birth control. Doctors as a whole are against them, it is much to traumatic to the mom, and I think most people find it abhorrent. Even in the first 3 months- even the "morning after pill"- is a huge trauma to the body. Not something most people think of when they discuss the issue.

I support abortion as a form of a woman's right to choose in circumstances where the conception was made in a situation that was not of her consent.
That is exactly my opinion. As someone who has been raped, if a baby had resulted from that I'm sure that it's a path I would have considered.
I don't support it but I don't condemn it. If we had to vote, as a country, whether or not to leaglise abortion I wouldn't vote because I'm too torn.
In this case, it's how late in the pregnancy that they are allowing the abortion which is infuriating me.

Exactly, I've had family members who have lost babies so close to the due date and know many more who are trying or waiting to adopt.
