[Home. His book shop. Light, airy and impossibly tidy - yet lined from floor to ceiling with racks upon racks of books. Aldridge moves industriously around the shop floor with a pile of books carefully stacked in the crook of one arm, touching the covers lightly to get a feel for each before lovingly slotting it on to its rightful shelf.]

[ughhh you. Aldridge doesn't look at all pleased. He pauses with one book held aloft en route to the shelf - a romantic comedy, well loved and well read, a little trashy in places but with a happy ending - and fixes Payton a dubious look]

Looking for something?

[He seems surprised when he's interrupted from his very concentrated admiration, startled confusion turning into a suspecting frown.]

... Maybe.

[SUDDENLY EVERY GIRAFFE IN THE WORLD EXPLODES

He's startled when the vision comes to him immediately before he actually sees it with his own eyes, gaping and frowning with confusion and dread. Despite or because of that, Jeremy is urged to follow, running towards the mountain.]

[A room with a bed. It's in an abandoned house, untouched by dirt or the degradation of time. He walks slowly and uncertainly towards the bed, dropping face down to then arrange a comfortable position. He remains perfectly still and completely awake, staring blindly at the furniture and the little objects within his reach.

It gets easy to forget how comfortable this felt. It's even easier to realize it isn't very comfortable anymore.]

a.) [She doesn't quite roll her eyes, but she isn't particularly amused either.]

It's all the same. Places with people, or places without.
b.) [She'd prefer a place with one person, in particular, and has a very irritating habit of letting herself into his studio uninvited. She isn't here to pester him, at least. Or... can't, as he isn't in, but when given the option to go anywhere, she goes into the dark back room, tugs off her shoes, and crawls lazily into his bed.]

[ He tilts his head slightly, looking at her with a bit of a frown. ]

Not quite the same.

[Her eyebrow goes up. Why do people argue with her? It's not like they'll change her mind.]

For all intents and purposes, it is the same. Just because it smells a bit different is irrelevant.

[He's been out getting supplies, because no, he cannot trust any of Durban's thugs to know the difference between paints, even with explicit handwritten instructions, and having things delivered to the studio is damn near impossible.

The studio is dark when he returns, as he expected, as he left it, and he is not particularly quiet in hauling in the several bags of paints and goods he's carrying. He is tired, though, not uncommon, considering how little he sleeps, and he thinks he would like a shower before falling into bed.

He notices the shape in the sheets as he enters, but ultimately pays ignores it. It isn't he's found Zinc in his bed, unannounced, uninvited. Irritating, but there seemed no real way to dissuade it. He walks past and into the little bathroom, stripping out of his clothes and stepping into the shower.]
