impact rattles the ground and stirs up all the birds that were settling down for the night. there's noisy crackling going on, sharp but distant, while the clouds that were low-hanging around the summit swirl in a disturbed state.

[He crouches when the impact shatters the ground, shielding himself with his arms for a few good minutes before he finally decides to try and see anything in the distance, moving his hands to cover his ears. He looks up at the clouds, at the animals fleeing, at the indiscernible shapes covered by darkness... and none of it makes him feel any easier.

Three more minutes pass. Jeremy tries to approach, taking a deep breath every time his anxiety tries to pull him away. He knows that there is someone that must be found here and this is the way to where they stand.]

[he can enjoy six minutes of just disturbed animals until the ground is rumbling again, and it's almost cartoonish the way some of the earth starts to crack, split and separate near and around him.

lava and rock explode yards away in a show of absolutely zero subtlety. a...tall clump of lava remains where the rest has sprayed onto the ground, hissing and turning grass and other things to cinders.

ATTACK OF THE LAVA PEOPLE?]

[It's being a lot easier to regret this than he thought, he finds, ears still covering his ears. He knits his eyebrows and breathes faster until the commotion throws his balance and he throws his arms out to regain it.

[the pillar of lava, still oozing, tilts slightly to one side. Ellisha lifts her arm and lets her hand dangle limp until her fingers are distinctly more lava-less before bringing it up to wipe her goggles clean.

[she scoops up handfuls of lava off her face and neck and lets them drop to the ground in clumps that go SCHLORP. this continues until the lava-to-skin ratio shifts in the latter's favor and she looks less a lava person and more of a...lava-covered person.

still steaming.

there's a wristwatch dangling from her inactive hand, and she's, at the moment, tailless.

the rest is all systems furry as normal, though.

[He practically jumps backwards when she moves, pressing his lips with arched eyebrows. Oh, Jeremy, you look like everything but the brave idiot this story needs.

He's finally giving her appearance some real thought, though, and he wonders if he's actually come across an alien. That's the most logical explanation, considering she fell from the sky... but she still looks remarkably human. Ish.

This should be the coolest thing that's ever happened to him, but he's still terrified.]
