[This sounds more philosophical than literal, even though he supposes both apply. Neither possibility is one he wants to spend time thinking too hard about.]

[ Next to him, the woman scoffs a little, rolling her eyes. She doesn't need to be in a cage to feel like she's chained. ]

[He can pick up the scent, the ownership of another, powerful monster. One he hasn't encountered before. He denies himself the information that his senses give, he hates them, even when they prove to be useful.]

... Are you lost?

[ She looks at him slowly, head to toe and back up, frowning slightly as she rubs her hurt wrist. There's always something hurting in the pets of monsters, after all. ]

Aren't you?

[Maybe so, but the sky is awfully pretty to look at tonight.]

[a man in a shabby brown coat is likewise inspecting the heavens with rapt devotion but spares a brief moment to flash his fellow stargazer a smile]

Lovely, is it not?

[Milen looks up and to the side, curling his lips downwards a little comically before he sits up, hands against the floor for support. He finally offers the stranger a proper smile.]

I never saw so many before.

[he makes a small, happy noise of agreement before tilting his head back up to regard the sky again]

I confess I have seen such a sky before only once - and that was sailing at the very edge of the frozen northern reaches of the Americas. But I warrant there are plenty more stars aloft that both of us are yet to see.

[This one sleeps, oblivious to the topic of this particular night, curled up and hidden between the exposed roots of an ancient tree.]

[ Not wanting to wake her suddenly or alarm her, Tristan simply wanders forwards a little, until he is several metres away from Blue. Quietly, he plops down to sit on the ground, tugging a little impatiently at his tie, loosening it, crossing his legs. His eyes quickly trail away from Blue, however, and to the tree; it looks so aged, beautiful. He rather wants to lay his hands on the bark, see if he can listen to it, but he's going to wait until Blue wakes up before traipsing around the tree and being a massive tree hugger. ]

[She prolongs her slumber, still absent from the world, quiet and relaxed, back going up and down slowly.

Blue wakes when she flickers her ears, turning them back and straight up, opening her eyes shortly after. She lifts her head lazily to see who approaches. Her blue eyes seem even more striking in the dark.]

Well. That's certainly true. [not what I was getting at, but true nonetheless] Do you know much about Plato, Mally?

[ There are many, many things that could be considered "cages" in people's lives, but to be frank Teagan doesn't really want to think about them. She knows what keeps her trapped. Seated on a bench, Teagan is her customary position of arms wrapped around her legs, chin on her knees, eyes angled up at the sky appreciatively. ]

Yeah. They're really, really lovely. I haven't seen a sky like this for a long time.

Me neither! [and she takes the liberty to sit next to the other girl, tilting her head, emphasizing her tone.] I was starting to get a little worried--I thought the stars had gone somewhere.
